Chief Executive Officer of Mexico’s largest Pension Fund Joins Hera Diagnostics as Business Advisor

Hera Diagnostics is pleased to announce that Mr. Juan Manuel Valle Pereña has joined Hera as a Business Advisor. With a distinguished career in finance and the public sector, Mr. Valle Pereña will assist Hera in developing strategies to deploy its technology across Mexico and other parts of Latin America.


Juan Manuel Valle Pereña is the CEO of Afore Coppel, the largest pension fund in Mexico with 13.5 million customers and 18 billion USD of assets under management. Between February 2017 and January 2019 Mr. Valle Pereña was the CEO of Afore XXI Banorte, a pension fund with over US50 billion of assets under management. Previously he had a prominent career in the public sector, including the Ministry of Social Development (CEO of DICONSA, the largest retail network in Mexico and Latin America), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Managing Director of the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation), and the Ministry of Finance where he was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Banking, Securities and Savings. While at the the Ministry of Finance, Juan Manuel participated in the Financial Stability Board, the G-20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion, and the Committee on Financial Markets of the OECD. Between 1997 and 2003 he worked at the National Commission for the Retirement Savings System, the Institute for the Protection of Bank Savings, and Financiera Rural. Juan Manuel is also shareholder and board member of DeepDive, a startup focused in data sciences and artificial intelligence, an independent board member for a Fintech company in Mexico (Ubr Pagos) and advisor for a fund investing in education in Mexico and Latin America. Mr. Valle Pereña holds a B.A. in Economics (Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México 1993-1998) and a Master in Public Affairs (Princeton University, School of Public and International Affairs, 2001-2003)
